बलिया पौराणिक इतिहास

 उ0प्र0 के पूर्वी छोर पर बसा बलिया तीन ओर से बिहार प्रान्त की सीमा से घिरा है । दो बड़ी नदियों गंगा
 और सरयू (घाघरा ) के दोआब में बसे बलिया जिले की ऐतिहासिक , सांस्कृतिक और राजनैतिक पृष्ठ्भूमि
 काफ़ी समृद्ध रही है ।राष्टहित में बारम्बार बलिदान देने की इस जिले की परम्परा रही है । बगावत और बलिदान से जुड़ी इसकी परम्परा के कारण ही इसे बागी बलिया भी कहा जाता है । इतिहास के हर कालखण्ड में इसी पुरातन भूमि ने दुनिया को दिशा दिया है । जिसके पगचिन्ह आज भी समयशिला पर अमिट है ।


पौराणिक इतिहास

  बलिया का प्राचीन इतिहास महर्षि भृगु , महामुनि दर्दर ,ॠषि गर्ग , पराशर , जमदग्नि , ब्रह्मर्षि विश्वामित्र और महाभारत महाकाव्य के रचइता वेद्व्यास , रामायण महाकाव्य के रचइता महर्षि बाल्मीकी से जुड़ा है । पौराणिक आख्यानों के अनुसार इस जिले के कारों - कांरु गांव में भगवान शिव ने देवसेनापति कामदेव को जलाया था । भगवान शिव की इस तपोभूमि को रामायणकाल में महर्षि विश्वामित्र के साथ सिद्धाश्रम ( वर्तमान बक्सर , बिहार ) जाते समय भगवान राम और लक्ष्मण ने भी देखा था । इस जिले के पश्चिमी छोर पर स्थित लखनेश्वरडीह नामक स्थान पर महर्षि विश्वामित्र ने राम - लक्ष्मण को राक्षसों से लड़ने की विधा बला-अतिबला सिखाया था । इस जिले में सर्वाधिक महत्व की पौराणिक घटना थी , उस कालखण्ड के सशक्त प्रजापालक ब्रह्मा श्री प्रचेता का सुषानगर - ब्रह्मलोक से बलिया आगमन । उन्हे उनके पुत्र देवर्षि नारद ने इस स्थान के महत्व को दर्शाते हुए , बताया था कि  खोंग - गंगा नदी की धारा जो हिमालय से लेकर सागर तक का प्रमुख जलमार्ग है । जिसपर मैने विभिन्न जातियों के मानवों को यात्रायें करते देखा है । इस जलमार्ग में नाग जाति की राजधानी भोगवती (इलाहाबाद ) के आगे कोल , मल्ल और निषाद जातियों की वैभवशाली बस्ती से थोड़ा से आगे बकुलवन के बीच में हंसप्रपत्तन नामक सुन्दर तट है । अपने प्रवासकाल में मैने यहां एक अदभुत दृश्य देखा देखा यहां खोंग नदी के जल में स्नान करके एक कौवा हंस बन गया । यहां बड़े - बड़े सार्थवाह डेरा डालते है ।

LANGUAGE: Bhojopuri is a very sweet language that is spoken in Ballia. The bhojpuri songs have very natural soothing rhythms. Bhojpuri is a variation of Hindi.
BALLIA  DISTRICT is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh state, India. Ballia district is a part of Azamgarh Division situated in eastern Part of Uttar Pradesh. Main occupation is agriculture. Ballia City is district headquarters and commercial Market of this district. There are four Tehsil (Taluka) in this district viz Ballia, Rasra, Bairiya and Belthara. Rasra is second major commercial area of district, having one government sugar mill and one cotton weaving industry. Though Ballia's core occupation is agriculture but there are some small industry are existing.
Maniar is known for its bindi (Indian ladies putting on their forehead) industry and major supplier. The great nationalist and the hero of First War of Indian Independence, Mangal Pandey was born here. National Hero of "Quit India Movement" Chittu Pandey and freedom fighter Ram Pujan Singh were also from Ballia. The city of Ballia, the district headquarters, is believed to the birth place and workplace of Maharshi Bhrigu. The language spoken in Ballia is Hindi and Bhojpuri, a dialect of Hindi.
Contribution of Ballia to Hindi Literature is immense as many prominent scholars hail from Ballia like Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Purushottam Chaturvedi, Arunkant, Kanshi Nath Singh to name a few. Ballia can boast of one of the most prominent NRI in USA Jagdish Chandra Shukla who heads the University of Occeanogrophy and published hundreds of paper related to environment. Ballia is surrounded by two major river Ganges and Ghaghra (Saryu) that make this land more fertile.

Ballia is also considered as a holy Hindu city. It has big and small temples. Bhrigu temple in Bhrigu Ashram is considered to be a famous temple where Bhrigu Muni was supposed to reside. Bhrigu muni is the one who according to Hindu Mythology hit Lord Vishnu on his chest. Behind Bhrigu Ashram earlier River Ganga used to flow. Famous Dadri Mela (fair) is still held annually and people from all around the place come to visit it.
Six miles in the east on Ballia-Bairiya bandh, the village Dubehar is renamed after the name of Mahrishi Durvasa Rishi, where was his Tapovan, during tapasya, he ate Dub (grass) i.e. Dub-Aahar, so the village named as Dubehar. In village Dubehar, there is Devi Durgaji temple in the middle of the village, where at every Ramnavami, the devotee performed Puja & Havan and after this they give self minor blood to Maa-Durga. The devotee stand before Maa Durga with folded hands as Namaskar position, a barber (Naai) stand by side, cut a minor mark on the right solder with ustara (a shaving kind of knife) to blood com-up, the devotee wipe their blood with Bel-patra (Bel-leaf) and put it before Maa-Durga. This act is called 'Vardaan'. It consists of many block (kasbas or tehsils) among which chief are bansdeeh, maniar, ratsar.


It has many famous temples like barmyin (pronounced baar.r.ma.in)
, suryadevta, aseganath etc. There are even chief villages like kaithwali, hanumanganj, basantpur etc. Kaithwali is famous for its bird santuary (surhatal).
In village Shaikhpur from Sikanderpur 5 km on the road of Maniar it has many famous Moharrum there Original Silver (Chandi) 4 ft Tazia Moharrum celebration since 1875 there is karbla building right now not available same design in world accept Kaba, Saudia Arabia you can visit your team and trace the place. There is One family Shia'a Syed Ghazanfar Hussain (Nawab Saheb) behind of Dargah Shareef living in since 1875.

Former Prime minister of India Late shri Chandra Shekhar Singh was  belong to Ibrahimpatti in Ballia district.Chandra Shekhar was born in Ibrahimpatti which is situated in block Siar (Belthra Road) of distt. Ballia (U.P). He was born in an agricultural family. He did his primary education from junior high school Bhimpura Ballia which is 15 kms away from his village.
He used to go on foot to his school daily.Thereafter came to Ballia city for college education and did BA in 1947 from Satish Chandra College Ballia. He did MA(Political Science) in 1951 from university of Allahabad, Allahabad (U.P).

Geography

Ballia is located at 25°27'N 84°06'E / 25.45°N 84.10°E / 25.45; 84.10.The eastern boundary of the city lies at the junction of the Ganges and the Ghaghara.in the Ballia Situated Bhirgu Mndir and Hanuman Mandir.

Demographics

At the 2001 Indian census, Ballia had a population of 102,226. Males constituted 54% of the population and females 46%. It had an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%, with 58% of the males and 42% of females literate. Eleven percent of the population was under six years of age.

Geographic features

Suraha Tal Lake. Its circumference is about 25.6 km. Junction of Ganges and the Ghaghara rivers mark the eastern boundary of Ballia. The fairgrounds is at this point.
